F.F. Bruce, the great theologian, said of Christ’s coming to earth:

If there is, among the distinctive articles of the Christian faith, one which is basic to all others, it is this: that our Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man for our salvation.

This is the affirmation that we have in mind when we speak of the doctrine of the incarnation.

Why is the incarnation so important? Why is it necessary for Christ to come to earth? The answers may not be as easy as you think.
