As we start 2016, many have asked, “What are we going to be studying this year?”

Well, believe or not, we have a full year of topics already planned! We are going to go “back to the basics” of our faith through a study of God’s character, created to praise in the Psalms, assurance of salvation in 1 John, the 10 Commandments in Exodus, and a study of the incarnation.  Peter said in 2 Peter 1:13:

And it is only right that I should keep on reminding you as long as I live.

At TVBC, we’re committed to a “reminding ministry.” Don’t be deceived into thinking that knowledgeable Christians don’t need to continue to be taught Christians.   That’s why we are not blown about by every fad of church practice.  We know health and soundness ultimately come from regular reminding of the great truths of the news of Jesus Christ and how we should therefore live.

We need to reminded of the basics for many reasons—in order to prevent our forgetting it, to improve our knowledge, and to encourage us in application, especially those opposed truths. A simple one line prayer for our year is. “Lord, help me to remember tomorrow what you taught me today.”  Thank you for praying that for all of TVBC!

It will be an exciting year as we go “back to the basics” to go deeper in who God is and what He has done for us in the Gospel!
