From the Pastor
The last several weeks in our sermons, we’ve been looking at the short New Testament books of 2 & 3 John. This Sunday, we will start a 3-week study of Philemon.
Our goal has been to find marks of a Gospel-centered church. Here are the main points we’ve found so far from 2-3 John.
Marks of a Gospel-Centered Church:
- Rooted in shared truth in Christ (2 John 1-4).
- Known by its love (2 John 5-6).
- Looks for the truth (2 John 7-11).
- Longs for the truth (2 John 12-13).
- Has creditable Christians (3 John 1-8).
- Doesn’t have cocky Christians (3 John 9-10).
- Has compatible Christians (3 John 11-12).
- Has concerned Christians (3 John 13-14).
These are tall marching orders! Yet, this is the call of our church, our families, & our lives to know and make Christ known. And “He gives more grace” (James 4:6a) to accomplish this!
Will you join us in praying, by the power of the Spirit & His grace, that our church, our members, & our ministries reflect what we have learned so far?
Will you pray for a hunger for God’s presence & His Word, Gospel growth, thankfulness, unity, evangelism, & holiness will thrive at Tower View for God’s glory?
As famed Baptist pastor Charles Spurgeon said of John Bunyan, author of The Pilgrim’s Progress, may we be also:
Prick him anywhere—his blood is Bibline, the very essence of the Bible flows from him. He cannot speak without quoting a text, for his very soul is full of the Word of God. I commend his example to you, beloved.
Church, may our prayer, aim, & desire continue to bleed “Bibline” (Bible) & all of God’s promises as we seek to grow and reach our neighbors in Maple Park, Gracemor, & beyond!
In Christ Alone,
